¡Buenos días!

Este sábado por fin me voy a Egipto. ¡Qué ganas tengo de conocer las pirámides! A la vuelta os lo cuento todo 😉

De momento, para acabar el año, me gustaría mostraros uno de los metros más espectaculares del mundo: el metro de Moscú.

For now, I’d like to show you one of the most spectacular undergrounds of the world to end the year: the Moscow metro.

La mayoría de estaciones de metro en Moscú son museos llenos de obras de arte. Hay pinturas, esculturas, mosaicos y una arquitectura diferente a la que estamos acostumbrados a ver en las estaciones de metro de otras ciudades. ¡Sólo con decir que se le conoce como el Palacio Subterráneo o Palacio del Pueblo os imaginaréis lo que os podéis encontrar allí!

El metro de Moscú consta de casi doscientas estaciones repartidas entre sus doce líneas, de las cuales hay algunas que son de visita obligada aunque no tengáis que pasar por ellas. Comprad un billete y empezad vuestro tour por las estaciones, no os decepcionará. Además, si viajáis en invierno ¡es un buen lugar para no pasar frío!

Most metro stations in Moscow are museums full of artworks. There are paintings, sculptures, mosaics and a different architecture to which we are used to see in metro stations of other cities. You can imagine what you can find there only saying that it’s known as the Underground Palace or the Palace of the People.

Moscow metro consists of about two hundred stations distributed among its twelve lines, which you must visit although you don’t have to get off there. Buy a ticket and start your tour through the stations, you won’t be dissapointed. Furthermore, if you travel in winter it’s a good place to keep warm!

Lo primero que os llamará la atención es la profundidad de las estaciones, llegando algunas hasta casi los cien metros bajo tierra. Os montaréis en las escaleras mecánicas y pasará un buen rato hasta que lleguéis al final. Otra curiosidad es que al final de las escaleras encontraréis una garita con alguna persona vigilando el ir y venir de los viajeros ¡con pinta de aburrirse bastante! De todos modos, lo que realmente destaca es la decoración de las estaciones y las obras de arte que se encuentran en ellas.

En cuanto a cómo moverse por el metro, en el post que publiqué sobre el Kremlin ya os comenté que no era sencillo ya que los nombres de las estaciones están escritos solamente en alfabeto cirílico, aunque con un mapa del metro con los dos alfabetos y si os lo miráis un poquito antes de llegar no tendréis excesivos problemas en encontrarlas. Una de las maneras de saber si vais en la dirección correcta es que la megafonía anuncia las estaciones con una voz masculina cuando el metro se dirige hacia el centro de Moscú, y con una voz femenina cuando se dirige hacia las afueras (Para la línea circular se utiliza la voz masculina cuando el metro avanza en el sentido de las agujas del reloj, y la femenina cuando avanza en dirección contraria).

The first thing you’ll notice is the depth of the stations, some of them reaching almost one hundred meters underground. You will go on the escalators and many minutes later you’ll reach the end. Another curiosity is that you’ll find a booth at the end of the stairs with someone looking bored enough, watching the comings and goings of travelers! Anyway, what really stands out is the decoration of the stations and the artworks you find there.

In relation to how getting around by subway, I told you on the post talking about Kremlin that it’s not easy because the names of the stations are written only in Cyrillic, but you won’t have many problems if you have a subway map with both alphabets and if you look it before arriving. One of the ways of knowing if you are going in the right direction is that the PA announced the stations with a male voice when the subway goes towards the center of Moscow, and a female voice when it goes opposite the center (the male voice is used when the underground moves in the direction of clockwise in the circular line, and female voice when moving in the opposite direction).

No sabría deciros qué estacion es la más bonita, aunque os recomendaría visitar las siguientes: Arbatskaya, Kievskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kropotkinskaya , Mayakovskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Ploshchad Revolyutsii y Teatralnaya. Os dejo a continuación los nombres en alafabeto cirílico para que os resulte más fácil localizarlas y algunas fotografías para ayudaros a decidir qué estaciones visitar: АРБАТСКАЯ, КИЕВСКАЯ, Комсомо́льская, Кропоткинская, МАЯКОВСКАЯ, Новослободская, ПЛОЩАДЬ РЕВОЛЮЦИИ y ТЕАТРАЛЬНАЯ.

I don’t know which station is the most beautiful one, although I recommend you to visit the following: Arbatskaya, Kievskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kropotkinskaya , Mayakovskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Ploshchad Revolyutsii y Teatralnaya.
